Abstract: Nanoscopic insight into physical and chemical properties of functional systems, e.g. nano-materials, enzymes, catalysts, batteries, etc. can be obtained by magnetic interaction of magnetic moments with each other and/or with the host matrix. Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) and Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR) spectroscopy enable to extract fundamental information regarding the processes involved in reactions or efficiencies of such systems through coherent spin control. In this presentation after a short introduction to magnetic resonance spectroscopy, key examples will be shown covering wide range of applications.
About the Speaker: Ozlen Ferruh Yasar is a physicist with several years of experience in solid-state NMR and pulsed-EPR spectroscopy. After receiving her PhD in Physics from the University of Leipzig, she has worked at the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Energy Conversion, Middle East Technical University and Stockholm University. She has focused on investigating catalysts, enzymes, bio-mimetic materials, solar cells, and molecules in zeolites. She has joined Bruker BioSpin GmbH in 2020.
